Off to Thailand!!

I am currently a student at  one of the best schools in Florida and everyday is one that opens my eyes to the realization that my purpose in life is not just to attend medical school and live a cozy American life. Ever since I was given my first pair of glasses in the 6th grade I knew that it was my destiny to give others the gift of sight. In high school I took this dream one step further by obtaining a summer internship at the world renown Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. I loved every single moment of that experience, from refracting eyeglasses and performing acuity tests to filing patient histories.   Since then I have done everything in my power realize this dream. 

One day as I was praying something spoke to me and I knew that I needed to be in Thailand--a country that I never had any interest in. While I am not entirely certain about why I need to be in Thailand I know that there is something there for me that I need to grab a hold of.  I found out about a medical/christian mission to Thailand a few days ago and I knew that I needed to sign up for it. I am now in the process of financing this trip any way that I can as I am the typical penniless college student, and I have absolutely no way of paying for it. 

Perhaps this trip will be the first of many and in the future my degree in medicine will allow me to open doors for the Thai people by first giving them the gift of sight.
